These are full performances presented with all of the full elements of the show – the billed cast, costumes, lighting, audio, sets, etc. Preview performances prior to opening night are used by the creative team to evaluate audience responses and to continue fixing any structural, technical, or other issues. As the final details of the show are being worked through, there may be some stopping of action. The creative team may make changes to the show up until opening night, when the show is frozen until the end of the run. Meet the Dreams: Effie, Lorrell, and Deena, three young and talented singers of color in the revolutionary 1960s. Dreamgirls will take you on a journey as the three friends embark on a musical roller coaster through the ruthless world of show business. Their relationships will be put to the test by fame, fortune, and romance as the young women discover that their dreams come at a cost. Featuring iconic songs including “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going,” “Family,” and “I Am Changing,” Dreamgirls explores themes of ambition, hope, and betrayal to a soundtrack of gospel, R&B, pop, disco, and more.

The 1960s were a tumultuous time in America. This story of three women of color struggling to attain their dreams is full of grit, conflict, heartbreak, and hope. It is the inspiring story of artists, their talent, and their tenacity to break barriers while navigating their personal lives and contains adult situations and language. Rated PG-13.
