Education

Thank you for choosing Garden Theatre Education Programs! Our mission is to inspire discovery through theatrical experiences that are innovative, impactful, and inclusive.

Youth Production:
The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee

This spring Garden Theatre Education invites students in grades 6-12 to audition for our production of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling BeePlease do not register and pay for this production until you have been cast. In order to participate in this production you should be fully available for all rehearsals and performances.

ABOUT THE SHOW: An eclectic group of teenagers vie for the spelling championship of a lifetime. While candidly disclosing hilarious and touching stories from their home lives, they spell their way through a series of (potentially made-up) words, hoping never to hear the soul-crushing, pout-inducing, life un-affirming “ding” of the bell that signals a spelling mistake. Of the participants, one speller leaves a champion! At least the losers get a juice box.

Content: This show includes some mature content, including irreverent humor, some adult language, and talk of puberty. The show, if rated like a movie, would likely be PG-13. We encourage you to research the show before allowing your child to audition if you have any concerns. Feel free to email education@gardentheatre.org with any specific questions.

We are seeking assistants for the school year, spring break, and summer camps and classes. No teaching experience necessary and we accept assistants interested in all areas of theatre (performance, tech, stage management, etc). Assistants will help with checking in/out students, classroom management, classroom set-up/clean up, backstage support and more!

All High School Assistants are eligible to register for a Garden Theatre education class, camp, or production tuition free (one per calendar year). Assistants may count hours worked at the Garden Theatre towards community service or internship hours.

Financial Assistance for Education Programs

At the Garden Theatre, we understand the importance of offering financial assistance to enable everyone the opportunity to participate in our programs. We believe every child should have the ability to receive an arts education, regardless of financial status.

Please fill out the following form to apply for financial assistance. Assistance is not guaranteed, and submission of this form does not ensure registration in the camp. It may take us up to two (2) weeks to review your application. Applications are accepted as long as funds are available and priority is given to families on a first come, first served basis. You will be notified by email if your application has been approved. If approved, the email notification will include instructions on how to complete your registration process with financial assistance
