TRAVERS CHANDLER & AVERY COUNTY

Bluegrass Concert Series

June 27, 2015 at 8pm

One of the few mandolinists in bluegrass who plays in the traditional style, Travers has been hailed the “king of tremolo” and “one of the best traditional musicians in bluegrass.” His music at times often fuses the old honky tonk country of his country music heroes such as George Jones, Wayne Kemp, Vernon Oxford and Mel Street. Travers has also taken top honors in mandolin at the Mt Airy Fiddler's Convention, Allegheny Fiddlers Convention in Sparta NC and The Old Fiddler's Convention in Galax,Virginia.

ERNIE EVANS & THE FLORIDA STATE BLUEGRASS BAND

Ernie Evans and The Florida State Bluegrass Band represent what fans expect from bluegrass music today – an ability to bridge the gap between contemporary and traditional styles. Known for their strong lead vocals, classic hits, and ability to entertain their audiences, The Florida State Bluegrass Band is rapidly gaining a widespread fan base across the United States.

NOTHIN' FANCY

Headliner - Bluegrass Concert Series

From the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia, comes one of the most entertaining bands in the bluegrass genre and our series finale headliner, Nothin’ Fancy. Winner of SPBGMA’s award for Entertaining Group of the Year six times, this band has released eleven full-length albums, and have performed at festivals all across the United States, Canada and Norway.

SOLIS BRAVO BAND IN CONCERT

The Solis Bravo Band brings their smooth sounds of jazz, big band, bossa nova, Latin and R&B to the Garden Theatre stage – Join song writer/guitarist Carlos Solis, Grammy Award certificate winner bassist Jerry Bravo, four-time Grammy Nominee Rene Toledo, Emmy Award Winner and Grammy Nominee Camilo Valencia. This group of ten award-winning artists will take you on a musical journey - from Cuban roots to the American dream. And, as always, get ready for some surprise guest musicians.

The multi-talented President of Valencia College returns with his tight-knit group of musicians to create a warm blend of folk-influenced, acoustic coffeehouse-style sounds.
