Greek Show to be Published

Local playwrights Hopkins and Hunter to be published by Samuel French, Inc.
Samuel French, Inc., (the largest publisher of plays in the world based in New York City, London, Toronto and California,) has contacted local playwrights Jay Hopkins and John Hunter and stated that not only did they enjoy reading their play (The Iliad, The Odyssey and All of Greek Mythology in 99 minutes or less), but they have offered to publish it and handle the royalty rights for its production in all markets throughout the world!
The details of the negotiations are still under way, but Hopkins and Hunter are pleased to share this amazing news with everyone. In the recently published catalogue from Samuel French, Inc. only 85 new plays were chosen for publication this past year. Both the playwrights and publisher believe the subject matter and the humor of The Iliad, the Odyssey and All of Greek Mythology in 99 minutes or less (lovingly shortened to The Greek Show) should have a wide appeal with many audiences around the world.
Jay Hopkins and John Hunter have been writing partners for years, but this is the first full-length scripted play that they have collaborated on. Not only is the play to be published by Samuel French, but it is in the second stage of consideration at the prestigious Actor's Theatre of Louisville Humana New Play Festival.
The Greek Show was first produced in downtown Orlando at the Studio Theatre to sold out audiences in March 2007. Jester Theater Company, whose owners and managers are the husband and wife team of Jay and Diana Hopkins, will be producing the show at the Garden Theatre in Winter Garden, Florida this coming February 2009 with its original cast and crew.
